My name is Mike Boyd and I’m an entrepreneur.
I am 21years young and live in Brisbane, Queensland Australia.
I have strong interests in innovative green business concepts, eco-products and business+environmental sustainability.
I am currently undertaking my 4th year of study in two Bachelor’s Degrees full time at the University of Queensland; Bachelor of Business Management & Bachelor of Applied Science (Integrated Resource Management).
I am a Business Analyst at Houghton Executive Contractors, with training and qualifications in corporate sustainability, carbon emissions trading and sustainable enterprise management that provides me with up-to-date resources and knowledge of climate policy and risk mitigation strategies.
I have small business experience and the capability to apply innovative thinking to address challenges and deliver business improvement. I am one the founding members of the Sustainable Management Alliance for Research and Training (SMART) at the University of Queensland and my participation in a staged emissions trading simulation exercise has provided me with practical application of how the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) may impact businesses.
I own and run a business in Brisbane called Coolybar - which specialises in mobile keg hire and frozen daiquiri/slushy machine hire for parties. We pride ourselves on delivering the VERY BEST service and the highest quality products in Queensland to the party hire market.

Climbing the Hospitality Ladder
I have spent many years working my way up the hospitality ladder while studying and “playing” business in any spare time. I’ve done the rounds of all the entry level positions from glassy, waiter, barman, cashier, barista, supervisor, bar manager, etc and I most recently resigned my position as Duty Manager of a local classy cocktail bar and restaurant to pursue Coolybar interests in April 2008.
When I apply myself to something, I try and try again until I achieve a level of excellence that I’m satisfied with. Confidence is everything! Agree or not, this is me - Mike Boyd.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not perfect. I don’t always win. I don’t always achieve. I quite often FAIL. But time and time again I continue to TRY. I work harder, research further, learn new skills and TRY AGAIN! “Failing something is merely motivation to succeed next time”. Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER give up! The rewards are waiting for the successful minority who are not afraid of hard work, dedication and perserverance!
